Oops!! I forgot my Sunday What You Should Be Listening To!

Silly me!! Two posts in one day! How unlike me.

So here's what I think you should be listening to (not that anyone listens to me).

1)Deftones - Anything by this band is great. If you've never heard them check out Change (In The House Of Flies), Minerva, Passenger, Hole In The Earth, and Beware.

2)The Flaming Lips - Totally not like anything else out there. You really have to be in a certain mood to listen to them. Try Do You Realize and Flight Test.

3)Flogging Molly - No band list of mine would be complete without this band. I love Irish music and this is Irish punk(ish) music at it's finest. Try Drunken Lullabies, Grace Of God Go I, Far Away Boys, Factory Girls, and Seven Deadly Sins.

4)Gnarles Barkley - Yes, I went there. This totally puts me in a good mood. Great album (St. Elsewhere). Try Go Go Gadget Gospel, Crazy, and Gone Daddy Gone.

5)Godspeed You Black Emperor - Sadly not together anymore, this is depression music. Only please don't listen to it when depressed, it will only make things worse. I seriously love this band. Great chill music. I like to listen to them when I go to sleep at night. Try Moya, She Dreamt She Was A Bulldozer, and Omaha.

Thanks so much for sharing

So I've been sick for a few days with some kind of virus. For me it started out with every inch of skin I had hurting and I had a fever. The next day the fever and aching skin were gone, but in their place was a total lack of energy and a slightly upset stomach and stuffy nose. The following day I again had no energy and a slightly upset stomach. Today I actually felt like going back to work but I'm still not back to my normal self. This virus or whatever the hell it is has made it's way around the kitchen. The new manager kindly decided to share it with me (how thoughtful, no?). Hopefully I'll be able to keep it to myself. While laying around for 3 days doing nothing but watching tv with the occasional trip to the bathroom or refrigerator is nice, I would rather do it when I'm not in agony or unable to enjoy the vacation.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sirius satellite radio for putting a 90's alternative music station on the air. It's nice to actually know and like all the music that's played for once.

All the news that's unfit to print

So Britney Spears went totally nutso and shaved her head. She went into a salon and told them what she wanted, they refused, so she grabbed the clippers and did it herself. Then she proceeded to go out and get 2 new tattoos. Now I'm definitely not dissing anyone that gets tattoos, because I have a couple, but when you randomly decide to shave all your hair off because "I don't want them touching me" then I think you're ready for the little men with the white coats to come take you away for a nice "vacation".

The people who own the salon have set up a website to auction off Britney's hair. The minimum bid they will accept is $1,000,000. When I read that I think my mouth hung open for a few minutes. My brain actually didn't want to process it. Why in heaven's name would you want to spend one million dollars on anyone's hair. I wouldn't bid $.02 on Britney's anything.

What you should be listening to

Since Kurt (sometimes) has his Friday Random 10, I thought I'd do a Sunday What You Should Be Listening To. These are all bands I enjoy and since I love to share music, I thought this would be a good way. So here are a few bands you should listen to.

1.) AFI - seriously. I've loved them for going on 4 years now and I never get tired of them. They reinvent themselves with each album.
2.) 30 Seconds To Mars - I know Jared Leto is a total douche, but the music is still way good. Kind of on the pop side, but rockin' none the less.
3.) A Perfect Circle - Sadly no longer together but still worth listening to. Maynard can do no wrong with me.
4.) Combichrist - while not everyone's cup of tea, they are a great industrial band. So if you like industrial or are interested in seeing what the genres like, give Combichrist a listen.
5.) Death Cab For Cutie - Really good band. Period.

That's enough for now. I'll do this every Sunday (unless I forget, which seems likely).

At last, an interesting email!

Of co-workers and morons

I know, I know. I'm a lousy blogger. I try and lead an interesting enough life to write about but somehow it just doesn't happen. This small town and having kids thing is keeping me down! (just kidding) I do live in the middle of nowhere, but it is a good place to raise a family. Low crime and all.

So at work they had one cook to quit (for those that don't know I work in the kitchen of a military school), which meant they had to hire someone to take her place. They also had to hire a new manager because our old one got the boot (long and really lame story). So they hired a girl for a cook/snack bar position and a new cook/manager. The manager is a cool guy who totally reminds me of Kurt for some reason (I'm not entirely sure why). He's pretty laid back and seems like he'll be fun to work with. The girl they hired is a real winner (I hope you can read the sarcasm I attached to that sentence). She hasn't even been there a month yet and she's already missed about a week of work. She cooked one night (and not by herself, she helped another person cook) and she left a note for the boss saying she was exhausted and wouldn't be coming in the next day. Honey, you haven't even felt what tired is yet. Just wait until we have to feed the parents on Parents weekend (800 people) or Mother's Day (again around 800 people) or Alumni weekend (where everything has to be beyond perfect). Bitch, please. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. She came in today (after having been off "sick" for 2 days) with a note or something for the boss. I'm hoping it was a letter of resignation. Seriously, if you can't hang with the big boys then go play somewhere else.

Miffy is coming back!! Yay!! She's staying at our friend Kim's house (which happens to be at the beach). My family and I will be spending the weekend there and we'll all be going to Busch Gardens. They have a new roller coaster this year the I must ride, if I don't chicken out at the sight of it, hahaha. Good times will be had by all.

I'm getting a new tattoo soon (hopefully). I'm thinking of getting my AFI one done. I just need to save the money to have it done. I'm going with Sarah and Jeremy to get one. We have the idea to get a DFAC (Despair Faction Atlantic Chapter ) one. It should be cool. If not that one then I'm getting the AFI design I want. I want so many tattoos and have so little money, hahaha.

Ok, I think I've bored you enough. Laters.
