A case of the lazies.
Yep, that is exactly what I have. At least when I'm home I do. I've been working crazy hours at work, so there hasn't been much at home time. Luckily that will change in about a week. Christmas break starts on December 14th. I get 2 1/2 weeks of lovely, no baking vacation. I cannot wait.

It's a record!
Wow, 5 months. Even for me that's a record. And in that time, nothing has happened. Sad, isn't it? I am working loads, so I don't have as much time to be online. I sneak peeks whenever I can. I seriously have nothing to write about. I never realized how boring my life was until I started blogging. Trying to find things to write about made just how pathetic my life is crystal clear.
Oh well, I'll try and think of some topics soon. And I'll try not to let 5 months elapse between blog entries.

A much needed rest
I'm finally on vacation. 3 glorious weeks off. This break has been much anticipated. This year has been worse than most. Work has been hectic. I became the prep cook this year, so while the work was a little more stressful than what I was doing, it's more rewarding also. Plus as an extra bonus, I don't have to deal with the kids at the school much anymore. Some of them are really good kids, but the others are total spoiled brats. It's better for everyone if I'm in the background, hahaha.
In about a week and a half Jenn will make her appearance here in Virginia and I can't wait. She is so much fun. She's bringing her son, who is the same age as mine. They should have fun playing together. It will be her son's first time on an airplane. We're all going to the beach and to Busch Gardens Williamsburg while they're here. It will be her son's first time seeing the ocean. So many firsts for him. So many experiences that he'll carry with him for a lifetime. I'm privileged to be a part of it. Miffy will be at the beach. She's staying with Kim this time. We'll catch up with them at the beach and then we'll all go to Busch Gardens. Much fun will be had.
The new Anita Blake book comes out on Tuesday, as does the new Tiger Army album. So much to buy, so little money. The new Harry Potter book and the new MaryJanice Davidson book come out in July. The new Harry Potter movie also makes an appearance in July. It's going to be a good summer.
I think that's all for now. Time to go listen to a little Voltaire and relax.

I suck at this
Updating that is. I never have anything remotely interesting to say. I'm home from work today with a migraine (it's a little better now) so I figured I'd better do this while I had the chance.
In a little over a month Miss Jenn and Miss Miffy will arrive for their visits. I can't fucking wait! I bought my tickets to Busch Gardens the other day so I'm all set. I got the Virginia Residents Fun Card. You get unlimited visits to the park for the price of a one day admission. Can't go wrong with that! Good times shall be had by all. Jenn is bringing her son this time. It will be his first time in an airplane and his first time seeing the ocean. How much fun is he going to have? I predict lots.
We are entering the busy time at work. Lots of picnics, special dinners, Mother's Day lunch, and finally senior dinner. So much to do, so little time. I just keep telling myself that after this month I get a month off (and boy do I need it!).
I think that's all for this time. Hopefully it won't take me as long to update next time.

Show review
As you can see, I forgot to post the review of the show on Wednesday. You shouldn't be suprised by that, haha.
We got to Kim's house in time to have dinner with her. Kim got pizza for everyone but me and I got a could-have-been-possibly-poisoned turkey sandwich (we weren't sure how long mayonaise lasts). Sarah and I then left for the venue. We wanted to be there a little early so we could get a good spot. We got the best spot right up front by the stage! Yay! The opening act was slightly late coming on but they were really good. I had never heard them before but they made a new fan that night. The band's name is And One and they are a german electronica band. Very high energy. The singer has a great personality too.
Then VNV Nation took the stage and despite a few minor glitches with the sound and mic the show was beyond amazing. They are a very interactive band. Ronan spent lots of time talking to the audience. They encourage audience participation. They like you to scream, clap, sing along, dance, just generally have a good time. Someone kept buying the band drinks and being the nice guys they were, they drank them. Ronan even handed out water during the show (and thank God for that!). I must have looked pathetic enough because I got a bottle. Sorry to anyone who reads this that took a drink from my bottle. If you have a cold now, it's because I had a cold that night.
VNV Nation played for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. They were amazing and I can't wait to go see them again.

We're off to see...
VNV Nation!! Yay!! I can't wait. Sarah and I should be leaving in a couple hours. It's a hour drive to Virginia Beach. That's where we'll be staying, with Kim. Then from her house we'll be heading over to Norfolk. It's a little bit of a drive (maybe 30 minutes), but so much better than having to come all the way back home after the show.
I'm dying my hair right now. Intense Auburn is the color. We'll see how intense it is in about 8 minutes. I'm still slightly sick, but thankfully my head doesn't hurt quite as much as yesterday. Let's hope it stays that way.
I'll be back tomorrow with a full report (if I don't forget to post it that is).

Happy Easter
Easter, the time when all good children get candy and all naughty children get to go to church. Not really, but usually holidays involving presents has some king of good/bad thing going on. What does happen if your naughty on Easter? Does the easter bunny take back his eggs? Do you get coal instead of chocolate? I personally favor getting "a bag of switches", as my grandmother used to say. That was what we would get for Christmas from Santa if we were bad. Somehow, now that I think of it, giving a "bad" child a bag of switches seems like a bad idea. Wouldn't that child then just use the switches to beat everyone within reach? And for those of you who aren't from the south, a bag of switches means you get a bag of limbs off a bush that would be long, thin, and good for getting your ass whipped. Not that I ever received such a spanking, mine always involved a belt. Ah, childhood memories...
Happy Easter everyone. Or as my friend Jeremy so eloquently put it "Happy Zombie Jesus Day"!

World's worst
I am the world's worst blogger. Seriously. I honestly forget I have one. That means either my life isn't interesting enough to write about or my mind is going, and fast! I'm thinking it's the former. I do live in a small town and not much happens here. Which is a good thing, but not good for blogging.
I am on vacation now. Spring break baby!! Working in a school rocks. I'll be blissfully alone for a whole week. I did a little happy dance when I thought of that. Not that I don't love my family, they mean more to me than anything, but it's nice to have a little alone time every now and again. Recharges the old batteries.

Spring has sprung
And I'm not one bit happy about it. My sinuses are trying to explode. Spring is like a whole 2 days old (or something like that) and already I'm having migraines. Who knows what will happen when everything is in full bloom. I shudder to think.

Another Monday is upon us
It's Monday. I totally forgot to put up the Sunday What You Should Be Listening To. So, I'll make this week's a Monday version.
1.) Chris Cornell - Seriously, anything he's been involved with is worth your time to listen to. His solo stuff, his various bands (Soundgarden, Audioslave), and his work on movie soundtracks. Just pick a project and get to listening.
2.) Voltaire - While he may not be everyone's cup of tea, he is a seriously talented and extremely funny musician. Think gypsy music with a rock twist. So good.
3.) Velvet Acid Christ - More industrial goodness. One man but a ton of sound.
4.) TV on the Radio - Unlike anything else out there. Seriously give them a chance, you'll be thanking me later.
5.) Tiger Army - More psychobilly goodness. Really good band.

3.)Incubus - I have loved this band for quite a few years now. Really good rock music.
4.)K.M.F.D.M. - Major love for this industrial band. If you want to get into the industrial genre, check them out.
5.)Mindless Self Indulgence - because , well, they make me laugh.

The week in review
So, it's Friday and the week has come to an end. Not a lot has happened on this end. I'm feeling better after my illness. My manager decided to be generous and share his virus germs. But I got the last laugh, I'm better and he's still sick! Infect me huh?!
In world news (gossip), Anna Nicole was buried today in the Bahamas. I tried to watch some coverage of the funeral, but as with all things Anna Nicole, it made my brain tired. I think I lost IQ points when I used to watch her show. Also Paris Hilton got another moving violation (which I assume means driving drunk) and from what I read she may get jail time (I'll believe that when I see it).
Miffy is coming back to America. She's staying with Kim. Jenn is coming back to Virginia and is staying with me again. We're going to the beach (where Kim lives) to see Miffy and go to Busch Gardens (yay! Roller coasters!!). I can't wait. It's going to be so much fun!!
Work will be getting busy again. Military Ball, Parents weekend. Soon it will be Alumni weekend and Mother's day and then Senior dinner. Time flies when you're not having fun.
Ok, that's enough boring information for one day. Have a good one.

Oops!! I forgot my Sunday What You Should Be Listening To!
Silly me!! Two posts in one day! How unlike me.
So here's what I think you should be listening to (not that anyone listens to me).
1)Deftones - Anything by this band is great. If you've never heard them check out Change (In The House Of Flies), Minerva, Passenger, Hole In The Earth, and Beware.
2)The Flaming Lips - Totally not like anything else out there. You really have to be in a certain mood to listen to them. Try Do You Realize and Flight Test.
3)Flogging Molly - No band list of mine would be complete without this band. I love Irish music and this is Irish punk(ish) music at it's finest. Try Drunken Lullabies, Grace Of God Go I, Far Away Boys, Factory Girls, and Seven Deadly Sins.
4)Gnarles Barkley - Yes, I went there. This totally puts me in a good mood. Great album (St. Elsewhere). Try Go Go Gadget Gospel, Crazy, and Gone Daddy Gone.
5)Godspeed You Black Emperor - Sadly not together anymore, this is depression music. Only please don't listen to it when depressed, it will only make things worse. I seriously love this band. Great chill music. I like to listen to them when I go to sleep at night. Try Moya, She Dreamt She Was A Bulldozer, and Omaha.

Thanks so much for sharing
So I've been sick for a few days with some kind of virus. For me it started out with every inch of skin I had hurting and I had a fever. The next day the fever and aching skin were gone, but in their place was a total lack of energy and a slightly upset stomach and stuffy nose. The following day I again had no energy and a slightly upset stomach. Today I actually felt like going back to work but I'm still not back to my normal self. This virus or whatever the hell it is has made it's way around the kitchen. The new manager kindly decided to share it with me (how thoughtful, no?). Hopefully I'll be able to keep it to myself. While laying around for 3 days doing nothing but watching tv with the occasional trip to the bathroom or refrigerator is nice, I would rather do it when I'm not in agony or unable to enjoy the vacation.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sirius satellite radio for putting a 90's alternative music station on the air. It's nice to actually know and like all the music that's played for once.

All the news that's unfit to print
So Britney Spears went totally nutso and shaved her head. She went into a salon and told them what she wanted, they refused, so she grabbed the clippers and did it herself. Then she proceeded to go out and get 2 new tattoos. Now I'm definitely not dissing anyone that gets tattoos, because I have a couple, but when you randomly decide to shave all your hair off because "I don't want them touching me" then I think you're ready for the little men with the white coats to come take you away for a nice "vacation".
The people who own the salon have set up a website to auction off Britney's hair. The minimum bid they will accept is $1,000,000. When I read that I think my mouth hung open for a few minutes. My brain actually didn't want to process it. Why in heaven's name would you want to spend one million dollars on anyone's hair. I wouldn't bid $.02 on Britney's anything.

What you should be listening to
Since Kurt (sometimes) has his Friday Random 10, I thought I'd do a Sunday What You Should Be Listening To. These are all bands I enjoy and since I love to share music, I thought this would be a good way. So here are a few bands you should listen to.
1.) AFI - seriously. I've loved them for going on 4 years now and I never get tired of them. They reinvent themselves with each album.
2.) 30 Seconds To Mars - I know Jared Leto is a total douche, but the music is still way good. Kind of on the pop side, but rockin' none the less.
3.) A Perfect Circle - Sadly no longer together but still worth listening to. Maynard can do no wrong with me.
4.) Combichrist - while not everyone's cup of tea, they are a great industrial band. So if you like industrial or are interested in seeing what the genres like, give Combichrist a listen.
5.) Death Cab For Cutie - Really good band. Period.
That's enough for now. I'll do this every Sunday (unless I forget, which seems likely).

At last, an interesting email!
A friend sent me this. Finally I get an email that's worth reading!!
Twenty Nine Lines to make you smile:
1. My husband and I divorced over religious differences. He thought he was God and I didn't.
2. I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.
3. Some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them.
4. I use to have a handle on life, but it broke.
5. Don't take life to seriously; no one gets out alive.
6. You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me.
7. Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.
8. Earth is the insane asylum for the universe.
9. I'm not a complete idiot -- Some parts are just missing.
10. Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.
11. NyQuil, the stuffy, sneezy, why-the-heck-is-the-room-spinning medicine.
12. God must love stupid people. He made so many.
13. The gene pool could use a little chlorine.
14. Consciousness: That annoying time in between naps.
15. Ever stop to think, and forget to start again?
16. Being "over the hill" is much better than being under it!
17. Wrinkled is not one of the things I wanted to be when I grew up.
18. Procrastinate Now!
19. I have a degree in liberal arts; Do you want fries with that?
20. A hangover is the wrath of grapes.
21. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a cash advance.
22. Stupidity is not a handicap. Park elsewhere!
23. They call it PMS because Mad Cow Disease was already taken.
24. He who dies with the most toys is nonetheless DEAD.
25. A picture is worth a thousand words but it uses up three thousand times the memory.
26. Ham and eggs. A day's work for a chicken, a lifetime commitment for a pig.
27. The trouble with life is there's no background music.
28. The original point and click interface was a Smith & Wesson.
29. I smile because I don't know what the hell is going on.

Of co-workers and morons
I know, I know. I'm a lousy blogger. I try and lead an interesting enough life to write about but somehow it just doesn't happen. This small town and having kids thing is keeping me down! (just kidding) I do live in the middle of nowhere, but it is a good place to raise a family. Low crime and all.
So at work they had one cook to quit (for those that don't know I work in the kitchen of a military school), which meant they had to hire someone to take her place. They also had to hire a new manager because our old one got the boot (long and really lame story). So they hired a girl for a cook/snack bar position and a new cook/manager. The manager is a cool guy who totally reminds me of Kurt for some reason (I'm not entirely sure why). He's pretty laid back and seems like he'll be fun to work with. The girl they hired is a real winner (I hope you can read the sarcasm I attached to that sentence). She hasn't even been there a month yet and she's already missed about a week of work. She cooked one night (and not by herself, she helped another person cook) and she left a note for the boss saying she was exhausted and wouldn't be coming in the next day. Honey, you haven't even felt what tired is yet. Just wait until we have to feed the parents on Parents weekend (800 people) or Mother's Day (again around 800 people) or Alumni weekend (where everything has to be beyond perfect). Bitch, please. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. She came in today (after having been off "sick" for 2 days) with a note or something for the boss. I'm hoping it was a letter of resignation. Seriously, if you can't hang with the big boys then go play somewhere else.
Miffy is coming back!! Yay!! She's staying at our friend Kim's house (which happens to be at the beach). My family and I will be spending the weekend there and we'll all be going to Busch Gardens. They have a new roller coaster this year the I must ride, if I don't chicken out at the sight of it, hahaha. Good times will be had by all.
I'm getting a new tattoo soon (hopefully). I'm thinking of getting my AFI one done. I just need to save the money to have it done. I'm going with Sarah and Jeremy to get one. We have the idea to get a DFAC (Despair Faction Atlantic Chapter ) one. It should be cool. If not that one then I'm getting the AFI design I want. I want so many tattoos and have so little money, hahaha.
Ok, I think I've bored you enough. Laters.
So at work they had one cook to quit (for those that don't know I work in the kitchen of a military school), which meant they had to hire someone to take her place. Friday Random Ten
Since Kurt has been too busy pissing people off to do a FRT I thought I'd take over for just this one Friday. So here it is, direct from my iTunes to you.
1.) Apoptygma Berzerk - Bitch
2.) System of a Down - She's Like Heroin
3.) Murder By Death - Steam Rising
4.) A Perfect Circle - The Outsider
5.) Social Distortion - Bye Bye Baby
6.) Ryan Adams - Cry On Demand
7.) Nine Inch Nails - Please
8.) Fischerspooner - Circle
9.) Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays
10.) Armor For Sleep - Raindrops
Hopefully next week Kurt won't be too busy to post his list. If he would only learn when to give his two cents and when to keep it to himself.

Internetless no more...
I'm finally back after not having internet for a couple weeks. I missed all my internet friends. I never really realize how much I use the internet to talk to people until I am forced to go without it. Hopefully I'll be here awhile this time.
No news in the land of me. I've been working, reading, watching as little tv as possible, and just spending time with family. I have missed having internet access because this is how I find all my new music. You certainly can't rely on MTV to keep you up to date on what's happening in music. All they show are lame reality shows. I'm not going to rant about that, but I do remember a time when the M in MTV stood for music. I wonder what it stands for now...

Let's try this one more time...
Yeah, so , my last blog. Let's just say I lost it. I seriously can't remember my password or which email address I used to set it up. I can request my password, but it's kind of hard to retrieve your password when you can't recieve it. Oh well, let's hope this one I can keep up with.
So, it's a brand new year. It's all shiny and spotless right now. Nothing has happened to take the new year smell away yet. I do hope that the new year brings everyone good things and very few bad things. More ying, less yang, or something like that.
I'm on vacation (forced, but it's better than nothing) from work. The school is closed until Jan.3 and I don't have to be back until the 4th. Life is pretty good. I've managed to read lots, spend less time online, and spend quality time with the family. So far, so good.
Alright, I think that's enough for a first post. Time to go finish listening to the Evil A Go-Go podcast. Later...
